This Goshen Grown tour highlights the unique and diverse farms that call Goshen home. Come learn, explore and experience this special agricultural community!

The tour is presented by The Friends of Goshen Agriculture, LLC to benefit The Goshen Agriculture Council, which works to preserve, protect, and promote the agricultural way of life in our community.

Meet the Participating Farms and Farmers
Briar Hill Farm
We focus on producing beef, chicken, turkeys, pork, eggs and some vegetables utilizing a rotational pasture system, and a poly-species approach to land management and sustainability. Everything is raised with a hands-on approach, ensuring quality from start to finish. Briar Hill Farm will be only be open Saturday for the farm tour to discuss our sustainable farming practices, showcase some of our animals, as well as offer our products for sale. Come meet our angus bull ambassador "Independence" at the farm and visit us at The Goshen Fairgrounds and 4H Fair, as our daughter participate in the 4H beef show.

Crosswicks Farm is a new and growing market garden at the corner of West Street & Lyman Lane. We offer a variety of fresh seasonal produce and pastured eggs at the Goshen Farmers Market and at tour roadside stand. We are focused on regenerative agriculture and incorporate sustainable practices (like no-till, composting, interplanting, cover-cropping and more) to keep our land healthy and our gardens thriving.

On our farm we raise Hereford’s and Belted Galloways. We sell feeder calves, steers for beef, whole or half sides, 1st & 2nd cuttings of hay, and private butchering. We process chickens, turkeys & beef. We have a bull for rent to service your herd and we process lumber for clients, our logs or yours. They will have sweet corn for sale while it lasts.

The Goshen Farmers Market has provided the northwest CT area with local fresh produce and crafts for over 15 years. You can find us at Scoville Park in the heart of Goshen, right next to the town hall - Saturdays from July till late October. We bring together local, sustainably-minded vendors to offer the best to the Goshen community.

Northern Farm & Flowers
Northern Farm & Flowers is a year-round provisions market, garden nursery center, and you-pick flower farm. We offer locally sourced beef, pork, chicken and quail eggs, dairy items, ice cream, cheese, coffee, jams & jellies, sauces, baked goods, maple syrup, honey, local, seasonal produce and so much more. It's like your weekly farmer's market, yet open 7 days a week. Northern Farm offers are own microgreens including a weekly subscription. Inside the barn, you'll also find succulents and house plants, candles, soaps, plus seeds and other gardening supplies. We offer a variety of perennials, shrubs, fruit-bearing shrubs and trees, and seasonal annuals. Our seasonal you-pick cutting garden is a wonderful haven for the bees and butterflies and we offer sip-and-snip events throughout the growing season. Fresh bouquets are also available during the summer season.

The Goshen Green Garden & New Monarch Sanctuary
This 100% organic community garden includes the "Garden of Feedin" which has provided local organizations between 750-1,000 lbs of vegetables annually to be distributed to those in need. It also includes 100 & 200 sq. ft. plots to individual and families in the community. Our new Monarch Sanctuary is a pathway providing nutrition and habitat for our pollinating insects and birds. Sustainable Goshen will have a table here as well showcasing their work too.

Sustainable Goshen
The Sustainable Goshen Team works with town government, organizations and residents of Goshen, CT to adopt practices and policies that promote resiliency, equity, and sustainability. We met our goal in October ‘22 for Bronze Certification and we are now working towards Silver. Stop by our tent at the Green Garden to get a free pollinator seed packet and learn about our work to make Goshen more sustainable.

A 3 day year end event starting on Friday where over 200 UConn 4-H members highlight their 4-H projects for evaluation in over 15 different categories of projects. Visitors can pick up a schedule of events at the gazebo at the Goshen Fair Grounds.

West Street Farm
We’ve been farming on West Street in Goshen, CT for over 20 years. Roughly 1/2 acre is devoted to
sustainably-grown vegetables and fruit while 2-3 acres supply our bees with forage crops from native
Goldenrod to planted Buckwheat, Borage, White Clover and Alsike Clover.
Over the span of 20+ years, we’ve planted 561 different varieties of vegetables; each variety
documented as to source, success, yield and quality. Each year at least 100 different varieties are
grown. Emphasis is placed upon quality of produce with the attached sustainable approach to its
cultivation.
All of the basic natural planting methods from rotation of crops to noting soil temperatures is practiced
allowing for the best success with the least amount of energy used. Footprint is kept small by doing
much of the work by hand.
